March Muzzle Loading Match Report

Half a score of Free Trappers collected at the appointed time on Saturday, March 3rd for a pre-Easter event. Seasonal "mulligan eggs" and bunny targets along with an eclectic blend of critters challenged the shooter's skills. Friday helpers Doug Simpson & Kent Dunn dodged the showers in preparation but the shoot day was mild, dry and even a bit sunny. With assistance from Tom Brown, Dave Dolliver and visitor John Weger the activities moved at a brisk pace. Results: Luck winners were Don Kerr with a straight flush on his poker hand and Doug Simpson was the best gopher slayer along with the new record achievenmt of destroying the same pistol gong THREE times! Recognition of the "weener" continued on the individual matches: Trade Gun; Doug Simpson took the weenies, with Don Kerr taking 1st, BO Brown winning 2nd & Adam Sampson anchoring 3rd place. Rifle; BO Brown received the "Weener" award, Don Kerr took 1st again, Allen Cunniff 2nd and Mike Nesbitt placed 3rd.. Pistol; Tom Witt (low score), Adam Sampson placed 1st, Mike Nesbitt grabbed 2nd, and Doug Simpson again took 3rd place. Those donating and participating in the aggregte; Mike Nesbitt-1st, Doug Simpson-2nd, Don Kerr-3rd,Will Ulry-4th, Frank Ponceroff-5th, Kent Dunn-6th, BO Brown-7th,Tom Witt-8th.

The Free Trappers meeting focused on preparations for the Scout Spring Hunt upcoming on the 7th of April. Support and conduct of this event for 60 area Boy Scouts will take the place of the regular match for April A separate report and request for volunteers and support will be provided.
