Black Powder Monthly Matches

Black Powder Muzzle Loading monthly matches will resume on Saturday, October 6th. At the usual time (Shooting start at 1000) and accustomed location (The Black Powder Range, naturally). A few words of information for prospective new participants: Matches are shot in open relays with new shooters able to join the match in progress if there are situations delaying arrival. Each match includes events for Rifle and Pistol, and usually, Trade Gun. Match range fee is $10.00. Targets include paper and reaction targets with flyers for the Trade Gunners. Prizes, provided from the Range Fees are given for the top three in each category. Aggregate blanket prizes are awarded to those with the best combined scores of combined rifle and pistol. Suggested aggregate prize ( approx. $5 value) is something period related ( or, typically a miniature Abraham Lincoln commemorative poster which looks very much like a $5 bill). Aggregate scores are computed and posted in order but those contributing to the blanket are given the opportunity to recoup something for their efforts

The November match will be our traditional Turkey Shoot which will have blanket items (Turkey, Ham, Bacon) provided by the free Trappers.

Match Dates for the coming season are: October 6th, November 3rd, December 1st, January 5th,February 2nd, March 1st, April 5th, May 3rd.

Each match will offer one or more additional luck targets. Traditional, ‘period attire’ is optional, will be recognized for bonus points for three clothing items and for moccasins or true period foot wear.

In preparation for Rain Dee Voo 2008, a brief Free Trappers meeting will be held at each shoot. Raffle tickets for the rifle will be available starting in December.
